In this post, I am going to show you how to create a blog with an optin form just like this one:

We use the tools and services of GVO – Global Virtual Opportunities.  If you are not with GVO, you will want to contact your upline sponsor to get signed up.  If you are with Second Income Coach, our prospecting and training system of choice, you will simply login and signup in GVO with your SIC sponsor.

Installing WordPress on your existing Domain

To install your WordPress blog, you will login to the cpanel of your domain.  If you do not yet have your domain setup, you’ll need to setup a domain with hosting and full cpanel access.

From you domain cpanel, click on the Fantastico icon (it’s a blue happy face) and from here, look for the WordPress.

If you do not have a domain and have never installed a blog, you will find full instructions on installing your WordPress blog at GVO.  Login to GVO and watch the getting started videos.

Selecting a Theme

Themes are where you begin to make YOUR blog YOURS .. meaning you are going to pick a theme you like.  To change your theme, from your Dashboard of your blog, select Appearance then choose Themes then click on the tab to Install Themes.

NOTE:  You can install as many themes as you want to activate each theme to see how they display with your details.  Each theme is different and offers different options.  If you are NEW to blogging, I recommend a simple theme.

Adding Widgets

Widgets are what make your blog exceptional.  Widgets are what you use to add your forms and banners to your side bar of your blog.

You will find the Widgets under the Appearance section of your Dashboard.

To add a form or banner, you will use a Text Widget and paste your code in the BODY of the widget.  For banners there is no need to put a title and for your Optin Form we recommend a snappy title with a call to action ie:  Get On Priority Team List Now

Creating a new Campaign

Now that we have our blog setup, we need to create and Campaign in our auto-responder so that we can capture our visitors information.  We are using the GVO eResponder system.  From inside your GVO members area, click on the eResponder tab on the left.

We need to create a new Campaign.  Click on Add New Campaign.

Above is a graphical example of the campaign area and the fields you will need to fill in.

I called this campaign PrimaryLeads and I recommend you do the same.  The only changes you will make will be the From Name, From Email and Notification email (if you wish to be notified of new subscribers, you need an email in this section and you need to check the box to receive notification.

Under Company Settings, you can choose to send your visitors back to your blog OR send them to your Second Income Coach website.

Activating Your New Campaign

IMPORTANT:

From this point on when editing and creating eResponder information, you need to make sure that your new campaign is the active campaign.  If you have more than one campaign, you need to select your new campaign from the drop down menu at the top right.  A photo example is below:

Adding Custom Fields

You will want to collect the phone number and Skype id of yur subscribers.  To do this, you need to Add Custom Fields.  From the Campaigns section, choose Custom Fields.  The following Box will appear and you can type in Phone and Skype into the fields as outlined below.

Creating Optin and Follow-Up Messages

There are two messages you need to create.  The Optin Message is the message your subscriber sees when they fill out the form.  It is the message that contains the confirmation link for your subscriber to confirm their email address.

Optin Message

We will start with the Optin Message.  Click on Messages inside your eResponder, then click on Optin Message (it’s to the right).

The Optin Message provided by GVO is not right and needs to be edited.  Here is a photo of what your message may look like:

Here is the message so you can copy and paste.

SUBJECT:

Thank you %%SubscriberFirstName%%, please confirm

You can copy and paste this as is, the code will pull your subscribers first name.

BODY:

Hello %%SubscriberFirstName%%,

Thank you for subscribing to our list.

Before we can send you our important
information, we need you to click the link
at the bottom of this email to confirm
your email address.

Thank you, have a great day,

YOUR NAME
YOUR PHONE OR SKYPE INFO

NOTE:  You need to copy and paste your message to the text area as well as the html area

Followup Message

We will now create ONE followup message.  You may write a series of emails or you can simply contact your list members using the broadcast feature.  The email we are creating below will be sent immediately once your subscriber confirms their email address.

NOTE:  We have not included any links in this email.  It is simply a quick thank you and your contact details.  As this exercise is all about creating prospects, we want to create active prospects that contact us.  You can include links in your future followup.

Below is a graphic of the Followup Message section:

NOTE:  In the Send After section, the default is 0 (zero) and that’s what we need for this message.  It means it will go out immediately.  If you create further followup messages, you will want to space them apart by 1 or 2 days.  The number corresponds to the last email sent.

Here is the message so you can copy it:

Adding an Optin Form

Your Optin Form is the KEY to making this all work.   This is where your visitors will fill in their information and get on YOUR personal list.  The people who fill out this form are looking for an opportunity.

Once your campaign is set and ready, you can create a simple form to add to a Text Widget on your Blog Side bar (instructions included).

From your GVO eResponder section, click on Forms then click to ‘Create New Form’.  There is an option to create nice graphical forms, however, these do not adapt well to the sidebars of the blog.  If you have html experience and wish you work with the graphical forms, by all means do so.  The instructions below are to create a simple text form box that will fit nicely into your sidebar of your blog.

NOTE:  Where it asks for FullName, you can choose the “more” link to the right and opt to choose FirstName and LastName.

The already subscribed Thank You page should be your Blog OR you can send your visitors to Second Income Coach, GVO or GVO Conference.

Now that your form is created, we need to add the code to a Text Widget on your blog.  You will need two things for this exercise.  The HTML code for your form and a Text Widget on your Side Bar.  Examples are shown below.

To access the HTML code for your form, click on Forms List, locate your form and select the html icon.  When you click this it will open a pop up with the html code.  You will select the entire code (right click your mouse and choose Select All or press Ctrl A on your keyboard, then right click and choose copy or press Ctrl C on your keyboard).

This code will stay in your “clipboard” to paste into the Text Widget.

Go to your Blog Dashboard. Click on Appearance, then click on Widgets.  Locate the Text widget.

Available widgets will vary with individual Themes.

Place your mouse over the widget, LEFT click your mouse and drag the widget to the side bar.

Once your Widget is in place it will open up and you can type in a Title and paste the HTML code into the BODY of the box as shown in the example below:

Remember to SAVE the Widget changes before closing the box.

Now that you have your form on your Widget, we can add our blog post for visitors to read

Adding a Post

When you installed your blog, WordPress created a post called Welcome.

From your Blog Dashboard, click on Posts, then locate the post called Welcome.  Mouse over the post and you will see a menu from which you can choose to “trash” or “delete” your post.  Delete the post titled Welcome.

Now we are ready to create a new post.

Click on New Post

Where the Title section is, type in

Recording and embedding video or audio

Adding video or even just audio to your site is going to increase response.  You can either use our Video (it will be generic and inviting) or you can use the script below to record your own video.

Recording Audio Only

I realize that many people are either still very video shy OR they don’t have video equipment.  I put together a script that you can read and record the audio only OR record the video as well.  If you are a member of GVO, you can use the EVP system to record just the audio portion of your voice and even use it to record full video.

I do recommend that if you are going to record full Video, that you record the video locally with your Video recording software that came with your Video Camera or Webcam.  Then upload your recording to EVP through GVO.
